El Nido is in the municipality of the northern province of Palawan in the Philippines. It lies in between the South China Sean from the west and the Sulu Sea from the east, it has a rich diversity of fauna and flora, as well as marine life.

The town of El Nido is located in the astonishing Bacuit Bay; a group of islands and islets, where the rock formation and limestones originated more than 200 millions years ago. The impressive limestones of El Nido and those belonging to Bacuit Bay are sedimentary rocks composed of skeleton’s fragments of marine life such as coral which is where all the dive sites are located.

How to get there

By plane

From Manila/Cebu to El Nido :

AirSWIFT offers direct flights from Manila, Clark,Cebu, Bohol and Puerto Princesa to El Nido and back.

From Manila to Puerto Princesa :

You can also book a flight with Cebu Pacific Air or Air Asia from Manila to Puerto Princesa. Once in Puerto Princesa you should come by road (please see information below).

By road

By Bus

From the San Jose Bus Terminal in Puerto Princesa you can take a RORO (Roll On Roll Off) or Cherry Bus. ROROs are basic and it is the cheapest Filipino mode of transport, however it is slow. It departs at several hours (please check in the terminal as schedules changes). It takes around 7 hours to arrive in El Nido. The Cherry Bus departs every two hours and most have aircon.

By Van

There are shuttle trips from Puerto Princesa to El Nido which last around 5 hours. You can book them in Puerto Princesa Airport, directly through your hotel or in San Jose Bus Terminal in Puerto Princesa.

Rent a car or motorbike

Much more expensive but more adventurous, you have the option to rent a car or motorbike in Puerto Princesa. It will take you 6 hours aproximately to arrive to El Nido. Keep in mind that the road is still under construction and the conditions are not perfect. There are different suppliers. Please feel free to google them.

By boat

From Manila to El Nido

There are some ferry lines which offer the trip, San Nicholas Lines (+632 243 2830) and Atienza Shipping Lines (+632-242 8845). We recommend this option only if you have a lot of time, as it takes around 3 days to get to El Nido and if you don’t mind about comfort as the trip can be very rough.

From Coron to El Nido

You can book only through any tour agency in El Nido or in Coron a fast Ferry. It lasts around 4 to 5 hours and depending on weather conditions it can be a rough trip.
